Frank, thanks for the compliments!

In my experience, that insulin spike is completely unnecessary. This is also the experience of many others. If you'd like to eat lots of carbs post-workout, go right ahead. However, I can almost guarantee you won't notice a difference between eating just some protein, and eating a combination of protein and carbs.

I spent years eating carbs post-workout with protein, exactly as all the scientific studies suggested (a fast-digesting whey with something simple like dextrose) and got much, much better results just eating some eggs and cream or some meat post-workout. For this reason, I don't recommend a big insulin spike post-workout because I see it as unnecessary for great results.

My personal philosophy in the world of building muscle is that real-world personal experience trumps scientific studies every single time.

Great work, very good information. For the sake of someone following this blog, do more research regarding your post work out nutritional information. What a shame that such a wonderful and informative blog neglect's the well know and imperative insulin spike. The post-workout meal should be heavy on protein and carbohydrates. While protein builds muscle, do not forget the important role carbohydrates. By providing an insulin spike, carbs provide the body with an excellent transport system for the nutrients to reach the muscle cells. This is common knowledge , it doesn't matter if your bulking or cutting.

Hey
I just thought I'd let you know everyone on t-nation decided to create a new thread about the Anabolic Diet. (the old one got too big to load). So, you wanna change any links you have to it.
Keep up the good-work. I too am planning a run on each of the HSS-100 specializations, this year.
